Meeting was held in Riga, Latvia, from September 16th to 18th, 2024. This event was meant for representatives from all LIFE and LIFE IP Nature projects across the Nordic and Baltic regions – encompassing Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland – as well as members of CINEA and ELMEN.
LIFE GoodWater IP project was represented by the lead partner Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre and project partner Baltic Environmental Forum-Latvia.
In the frame of the Nordic-Baltic LIFE Platform meeting LIFE GoodWater IP project team organized 3 events:
- September 17 (morning): site visit “The importance of removing obstacles in rivers to achieve common goals of nature and environment protection. Example of Great Jugla” to Ropaži municipality with the aim to discuss the obstacles on rivers as not only have negative impact on fish migration, but also they affect ecological quality and the quality and presence of protected habitats;
- September 17 (afternoon): thematic session on importance of cooperation towards successful freshwaters management to discuss with the representatives of other LIFE projects the role of communication, mechanism of support actions as well as institutional arrangements;
- September 18: study trip “River management in theory and practice LIFE GoodWater IP project’s examples in River Aģe catchment” to the project demo objects – river Mazupīte, river Aģe and river Tora.
