The NEXOGENESIS project activities in the Lielupe River Basin are approaching their final phase, and on May 27, the 6th stakeholder workshop of the project took place in Riga. The project focuses on evaluating the interlinkages and impacts within the water-energy-food-ecosystem (WEFE) nexus, analyzing relevant policy instruments, and using artificial intelligence to support the selection of the most suitable policy packages to achieve the objectives of the Lielupe River Basin in the WEFE sectors.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the progress and results of the NEXOGENESIS project in the Lielupe River Basin, including the policy package proposed through the decision support tool NEPAT to support the achievement of WEFE goals. The governance roadmap was presented, key implementation steps were prioritized, and stakeholder engagement was assessed. An essential part of the event was the exchange of experiences and networking between representatives from Latvia and Lithuania, highlighting the importance of continuing and strengthening cross-border and cross-sectoral cooperation in achieving the objectives of the Lielupe River Basin and improving water quality.
On behalf of the NEXOGENESIS team, we sincerely thank all participants for their valuable contributions in laying the groundwork for sustainable, effective, and intelligent resource management! We look forward to continuing our cooperation!
